San Diego Union Newspaper, Wednesday June 29, 1932:
Father's ashes and Son's mark old fishing spot:
Father and son, in innumerable fishing trips together near the whistling buoy in the ocean off San Diego, had agreed that if anything happened to either,m he should be buried there.
It was learned yesterday that the ashes of Hugh Adams had been scattered over the favorite fishing spot Saturday, three days after the ashes of his 18 year old son and fishing companion, Guy Adams had been strewn there.
The father died the day following the son's funeral services Thursday. Guy was killed last week when an automobile in which he was riding turned over on Big bear grade. His school principal. M. J. Harkness , of Victor Valley Union high school, and four classmates brought the ashes of Guy to the San Diego pier Thursday and held simple services near the buoy.

Similar services were held for the father. Mrs. Adams is staying with friends in Ocean Beach. The Adams family lived in San  Diego until two years ago when they moved to Victorville. Hugh Adams had retired from the Navy because of ill health and is believed to have died of shock as a result of this son's death.
